Meet Miss Olive

Olive “Oxygen” the Olive Egger

Hatched 25February 2019

Only after did we have her home and we’re looking at her banded leg did we realize that Olive had feathered legs. Luckily our desire to have mossy green eggs added to our egg basket was so great we continued full speed ahead aweing over the fuzzy chirping chick.

We knew we’d have an Olive in the bunch and since Chickie Daddy loves logical naming, our Olive Egger quickly was dubbed Olive. Her planned photshoot of being in a martini glass was short lived as she grew rapidly, out pacing her hatch day sisters.

Olive’s tendenacy to leap out of the brooder, without looking where she will land, has made photo shoots a challenge. Into the dog’s kennel? Sure! Onto the brooder lid propped precariously on its edge? Yep. An surface she can aim for, and often miss, she’s game. Not a fun game at 0515 when water needs to be refilled prior to departing the house.

Olive has a great fondness for fingers offering treats and often mistakes the finger as food closing her break down hard. She also loves to nip at her Chickie Daddy’s toes when they get a little too close to the pen.
