Fresh Eggs

Fresh Eggs

With Mae and Vera laying nearly every day we hit 1 dozen eggs before too long and that was enough to declare the eggs game for eating. Well not quite. Their Chickie Godmother explained that the Ladies were paying rent and sentimentalism was getting in the way of Chickie Parents cashing the checks we decided to dine.

With major hesitation the eggs were cracked open revealing clear whites and the bright yolks. Not as bright yellow if they'd actually eat the marigold and nasturtiums planted especially for them, but still a gold when compared to the light yellow of store bought eggs.

And those eggs? Tasty! The only issue was when we realized we were referring to them and Mae and Vera and quickly clarified we were talking about the eggs each had produced.

Eggs have also been shared with a few select people- like our favorite Chicken Wrangler who takes care of them when we leave town and other care takers from their Chickie days. Freeloaders no more, at least not the entire coop, these girls can pay their sitters and make good on their egg futures promised months ago.
